On June 29, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore celebrated the 50th anniversary of ordination of the Rev. Finck; a tribute to a man whose life has been devoted to serving God. The milestone was marked with a reception hosted by his loving wife, Rhoda, who orchestrated the event.

Members, family and friends were treated to an inspiring look back at Rev. Finck’s remarkable life and ministry. Rhoda arranged a thoughtful photo display and a video which chronicled his journey from his early days through many years of dedicated service. The photos will be available for a few more weeks for those who couldn’t attend Sunday. The congregation also honored this momentous occasion with a cross, which will be added to the Memorial Cross Wall, and a plaque that will be placed above the Jerusalem Cross that Finck made and donated, that now hangs in the Fellowship Hall.

On Sunday, July 13, the congregations will celebrate the Fifth Sunday after Pentecost with the Rev Finck presiding. The Communion and worship service meets at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays at 13564 St. Andrews Drive. This week will feature a guitar solo of The Lord’s Prayer by Mickey Costello during communion.

There will be a brief special congregation meeting following the service and before fellowship. After the meeting, people are welcome to meet in the Fellowship Hall for coffee, tea and cookies or snacks.

The church continues to collect donations of canned and boxed foods for the hungry. The collected food stays in Orange County and is distributed by Lutheran Social Services.

The Bible study group continues its focus on women of the Bible on Wednesday, July 16, at noon in the Fellowship Hall. We are continuing on with other strong and influential woman in the Hebrew Scriptures. People are encouraged to bring a lunch. Drinks will be provided.
