An overcast and humid morning greeted the players of the LW Men’s Golf tournament on June 25. Fifty-seven golfers teed off starting at the Turtle Lake Golf Course. Each man competed for best net scores (gross score minus handicap), plus four circle holes and two closest to the pin challenges.

The weather did not change until the second flight went out, when it was brilliantly sunny and warm with a little wind. The course slowly dried out from the damp early morning conditions. The first nine holes were played from the red (forward) tees and the second nine from the blue (rear) tees. This added complexity as some of the first nine holes were under 70 yards with one hole being only 40. Club selection became an issue that was not typically seen. Twentyfi ve of the 57 men scored net at or under par, and there were 80 birdies (a new record) plus 12 circle holes.

Closest to the pin on hole No. 8 was Dennis McMonigle, and on No. 17 it was Rolando Ramirez. Low net score for the round was Bob Turner at 6 under 48, followed by a number of players at 49. Low gross for the tournament was Turner at 4 under 50, followed by Jae Choi at 3 under 51, and a number of players at 52. Average net scores by for all players is 55.15 strokes or just slightly 1 over par.
