First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

In Roman 4:13, the apostle Paul writes, “For the promise that he would be heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.”

A clear statement is made by Paul: the promises God makes to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would not come from the law. The promises were given to Abraham, passed on to Isaac and Jacob long before Moses and the giving of the Mosaic law. Galatians 3:17 says, “And this I say, that the law, which was 430 years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect.”

Paul emphasizes that the law can do nothing but condemn man to death. No one is capable of living the law in perfection, and complete obedience that a righteous and holy God demands. Therefore, the righteousness of God comes through the principle of faith, in believing what God has said, not by some written code or human effort.
