GRF Weekend Dance Bands

The Velvetones

The Velvetones Ballroom Dance Orchestra will play Sunday, June 15, from 6-9 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. The Velvetones play regularly at LW Clubhouse 4 on the first and third Sundays.

The band features classic music, authentically recreating the style, musicality and essence of Swing Era band music. The band’s repertoire includes contemporary pop hits.

Legends of Rock

Legends of Rock will play on Saturday, June 14 from 6-9 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. The band plays the top rock tunes from the 50s through the 80s. Led by Mutual 17 resident Jon Pearlstone, the group performs monthly under the LW Pickleball Club and always fills the house. The band will join the GRF Weekend Dance lineup for three special appearances in 2025.

The band features Laura Gardner on vocals and percussion, Tony Burris on drums and vocals, Andre Du Somme on lead guitar and vocals, John Sanchez on bass and vocals, Ziggy Romano on keyboards and Jon on the guitar and harmonica.

Abilene

Abilene is Seal Beach Leisure World’s No. 1 country rock band going strong for 22 years. The band features Andre Dusomme on guitar and vocals, Jim Greer on drums, Vickie Van Ert vocals, Greg Johnson on keyboards and vocals, and Bob McAlister on bass and vocals.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the music goes till 9. Come see them on Saturday, June 28, at Clubhouse 2. Free dance lessons precede the performance, starting at 6:30.

• No table saving. People may bring their own snacks.

• People must be out of the clubhouse no later than 10 p.m. to permit adequate time for the custodian to tear down the setup and arrange the setup for the following day (except New Year’s Eve).

• No announcements are permitted from the stage, except by the bands.

• Clubhouse lighting and audio-visual equipment can only be adjusted by the custodian according to the instructions they have been given.

• Be sure to sign in, either as a resident or guest, in the proper spot. This is the only way GRF can judge bands’ popularity.
