Dancers & Mixers Dance: June 3
The Dancers & Mixers Club dance will be Tuesday, June 3, in Clubhouse 4 from 7-9 p.m.
There’s a good reason to go dancing here in Leisure World. It’s a fun way to spend your time with all kinds of advantages besides getting out, having a good time and meeting new people. Moving increases both stamina and flexibility and helps people maintain their sense of balance, reducing the fear of falling. It can be a good workout and it reduces stress and tension. One side benefit was uncovered by the social scientists: it seems that dancing is uniquely effective at delaying the onset of dementia in seniors.
The club features live music, featuring Leisure World’s own Linda Herman, for ballroom dancing. People who haven’t danced in years will be pleasantly surprised at how welcoming the club is to all levels of dancers. Partners are not needed. There will be line dancing and a few polkas. The dance is free and people are encouraged to bring their own refreshments. For more information about the dance, call 562-431-1257.
