Tournament Poker Club

The Tournament Poker Club invites anyone who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in to play on June 7 in Clubhouse 6. Regular tournaments are the first three Saturdays of every month and start with coffee and treats and registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

On May 10, there were more than 60 participants ready to play an exciting game of Texas Hold ‘Em. High hand winners were: Dick Jones with A-A-A-A-K and Bob Konier with A-A-A-K-K. Tony Canfora won a prize for playing and winning with the promo hand of 10-4.

As the winners of their original tables, the final table players were: Glen Ison, first place; Bob Konier, second; Namil Shin, third; Marvin Rolnick, fourth; Maryanne Conte, fifth; Glenn Evenson, sixth; and Tony Canfora, seventh. Play continued at the final table until Ison and Konier were head’s up. The flop came 7-6-4, and Konier went all in with 7-3. He was called by Ison with 8-9. The turn was a 5, giving both players a straight, Konier’s from 3-7 and Ison’s from 5-9, an exciting and close final hand to be sure.

Ison is new to Leisure World, having only been here for a couple of months. He joined the poker club in May. This was his first win at the final table. Besides the Poker Club, he has not joined any other clubs yet, but he enjoys golf, table tennis and billiards.
