LW Art League
The Art League’s May 13 hands-on workshop was led by guest artist Joe Cibere, a signature member of the National Watercolor Society. The largest crowd of any previously recorded Art League meeting was provided with paper, brushes, watercolors and small bottles of acrylic inks—part of Cibere’s unique “let the paint do the work” approach to painting.
Ramayana (RB) Baba, the League’s vice president, announced changes to the upcoming Art in Bloom fine art exhibition sponsored by Gasper Monteer Realty Group, which will be held in the lobby of Clubhouse 3, from 4-7 p.m., on Saturday, June 21.
Baba emphasized that any Leisure World resident is welcome to be considered for inclusion in the League’s first juried exhibition. Applications can be picked in the Recreation Office in Building C, requested digitally emailing lwsb.artleague@gmail.com, or via phone call or text to Jim Greer at 801-319-4613.
Baba also announced that the League is seeking volunteers to serve on a committee to identify artists to conduct hands-on workshops at monthly gatherings. Committee members identify and recommend artists whose work would inspire and instruct League members in the use of new art techniques and unique styles. Interested volunteers can email Baba at ramayanababa@msn.com.
In the evening art competition, the winners were: Carmen Leslie, masters; Marion Higgins, intermediate; Daniel Prosek, 3D/ crafts; Joanne Rossi, best of show; and Marilyn Jonas, popular vote.
The Art League will meet Tuesday, June 10, at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. All are welcome.
