Friends of the Library

The summer holidays are approaching, and the Friends of the Library boutique is gearing up with all things red, white and blue. All are encouraged to stop by and browse home decor, themed party items and more.

Starting next week, all books about America’s wars and the people who fought them will be sold at half price, on the special rack in the patio area.

For fans of Louis L’Amour, a collector recently donated 75 of his books, and they will sell for 10 for $1 or $6 for the whole lot. Ask at the desk for the location of the books.

The bookstore occasionally hears follow-up stories about donated items, often when the item is a gift, but stories about puzzles are rare indeed. This particular puzzle had wooden pieces, not the children’s variety, but for adults. A gentleman bought it and after putting it together, returned to the bookstore to inquire about giving it to a friend, a mechanic who also likes puzzles. The puzzle owner was advised that it was his to give away as he pleased which he did. His friend is Egyptian and he requested to be allowed to take the puzzle with him on his trip to Alexandria, Egypt, where his sister who also likes puzzles lives. So it is assumed that it is now in Egypt and who knows where from there it will go. One can hope that it might make it across the border to Gaza and bring a few hours of pleasure to a beleaguered resident.
