Fleet Week in San Pedro features ship tours and more
MEMORIAL DAY
Los Angeles Fleet Week kicks off today, May 22, and runs through May 26 at the San Pedro Harbor, located at 250 S. Harbor Blvd., San Pedro. The annual celebration highlights U.S. maritime operations and military branches.
The main expo area will feature military aircraft and vehicles, equipment demonstrations, live entertainment, aircraft flyovers, a multibranch military cook-off, a “Military Has Talent” competition, military band performances and a Memorial Day service. Admission is free.
Active duty ship tours will be held May 23-26, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. daily, in the expo area adjacent to the Battleship Iowa. Shuttles will transport people from the expo area to the ship. Closed-toed shoes are recommended.
The “Festival of Sail” will run Friday-Sunday, from 9-5 p.m. daily and will feature free deck tours, hands-on activities, historical reenactors and more in Downtown Harbor near Sixth Street and Harbor Boulevard.
