Stanley Fong wins the April 19 Tournament Poker Club event

The Tournament Poker Club met on April 19 on a wonderful sunny day with over 60 players. A great time was had by all. High hand winners were Katie Hamilton (A-A-A-A-8) and Carol Ostergaard (K-K-K-K-J). Ostergaard also won a prize for playing and winning with the promo hand of 10-3.

As the winners of their original tables, the final table players were: Stanley Fong, first place; Frank DePalma, second; Nita Doyan, third; Lem Hall, fourth; Jae Jun, fifth; Tom Pappas, sixth; Carol Ostergaard, seventh. Play continued at the final table until Fong and DePalma were head’s up.

In the final hand of the match, Fong was holding J-J and DePalma had A-8. The flop came J-10-7, Fong went all in and was called by DePalma. The turn was a seven, which gave Fong a full house J-J-J-7-7. The river was a three, which didn’t help DePalma, and gave Fong with the win.

Fong has lived in Leisure World for six years and has been a member of the poker club for four years. This was his first final table win. Besides the Tournament Poker Club, Fong is also on the snooker team.
