Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh-in and complete the registration paperwork.

On April 25, members learned from Henrietta Peavy that the club lost a total of 22 pounds for the week. The biggest loser was Ruby Resnick with a 4-pound loss. Resnick said she worked hard on her goal, ate a lot of vegetable soup, cut out sugar, and ate a tofu scramble for breakfast from the frozen section.

First Vice President Linda Rich filled in for president Judy Chambers. She made sure that the club’s “share day” was rewarding and enjoyable. Rich proposed for members to share something about themselves that was never shared before, which made the meeting so much more special and unique. The weekly food for thought was a quote by the Olympic soccer player Mia Hamm: “I’ve worked too hard and too long to let anything stand in the way of my goals.”
