Applications open for club’s multidisciplinary art exhibition
LW ART LEAGUE
The Leisure World Art League fully supports all visual artists and their creations in its monthly meetings. In the past two months, the Art League has invited various art and craft clubs to exhibit examples of their craftsmanship at its gatherings.
At the March meeting, Claytime Ceramics and Clay Crafters— clubs emphasizing ceramic artistic expression—displayed many beautiful art pieces. The League’s April meeting on April 8 featured magnificent quilts from the Quilting Bee, a club dedicated to needle crafts, including those artisans who quilt, knit, crochet and embroidery.
The Art League also supports the arts in local schools. At the June 22 “Art in Bloom” exhibition in Veterans Plaza, the Art League will feature art pieces created by select junior and senior high school students in the Los Alamitos School District, with show proceeds providing scholarships for student artists. Sponsored by Gasper Monteer Realty Group, “Art in Bloom” will feature painting, digital art, drawing, ceramics, fabric arts, glass, jewelry, lapidary, photography, printmaking, sculpture and wood artwork created by Leisure World residents.
The juried event welcomes applications from all artists living in Leisure World. Interested parties can pick up a printed application in the Recreation Department office in Building C, or request a PDF copy of the application by email from lwsb.artleague@gmail. com. The deadline for applying and submitting images is May 11.
