Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore
On Sunday, April 6, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the fifth Sunday of Lent with Rev. Murray D. Finck presiding. His sermon for this week is titled, “What Do We Bring to Jesus Today.”
The communion and worship service is held at 13564 St. Andrews Drive at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. Time for fellowship is held after service in the Fellowship Hall with coffee, tea, cookie and snacks available. All are welcome to attend.
The congregations continue to collect donations of canned and boxed foods for the hungry.
Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore will hold the last Lenten Reflections and Suppers on Wednesday, April 9. The theme of the series is “CrossWays.” It is an exploration of the meaning of the cross from the writings of Martin Luther and will include time of discussion and sharing.
On April 6, the gospel lesson will be taken from John 12:1-8. It focuses on a woman named Mary, who anoints Jesus’ feet with costly perfumed oil. This was just after Jesus raised Lazarus. It was a kind way of thanking his for the gift of her brother back. Judas, one of Jesus’ disciples chose to complain about Mary “wasting” the oil, rather than seeing it as an act of gratitude. The story reminds believers to not judge other people’s actions.
