Members line up for spring season sign-ups

Sign-ups for spring leagues are now open. On opening day, eager Shuffleboard Club members formed a long line and waited their turn to sign up for play on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. It was a large crowd and others will be added to the growing list of players until the deadline on March 21. Everyone was excited that there will be three leagues this coming season.

Somehow lost in the confusion of the unexpected court repairs was the astonishing score of 96 points for veteran player Lynn Baidack on Feb. 25 Tuesday league play. Kudos to her for a score that is almost double what most players dream of achieving. It is rare to see points in a game exceeding 50.

Open practice is available every Monday from 9-11 a.m. On Thursday mornings, Rod Osgood will continue tutoring new and veteran members who wish to improve their skills.

Work on the courts has been completed, and the six lanes look decidedly better because they are offset by newly painted red gullies, which delineate the space between each lane. Members are relieved the work is over so they can get back on the courts.

An important general membership meeting is today, Thursday, March 13 at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 1. Also, this Saturday, March 15, will be the club’s St. Paddy’s Day potluck celebration at 5 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1.

Feb. 28 Friday morning league results: Team Carol took Team Jack 7-5. Team Carol’s all-game winners were Linda Evenson (substitute) and Milly Larson. Team Jack’s all-game winner was Jack O’Brien. Team Sally and Team Patti tied their game 6-6. Team Sally’s all-game winner was Marlene Levy and Team Patti’s all-game winner was Steve Edrich.

March 4 Tuesday evening league results: Team Harold tied with Team Bob 6-6. Team Harold’s all-game winner was Roger Bennett and Team Bob’s all-game winners were Dave LaCascia and Ellie West. Team Sally prevailed over Team Karen 8-4. All-game winners for Team Sally were Sally Fowler, Susan Hopewell and Susie Kim. Minda Burkschab was the all-game winner for Team Karen.
