Join the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting on March 19
The City of Seal Beach is seeking public input on its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Update.
Leisure World residents are invited to share input on the plan at a workshop and open house on Wednesday, March 19, in Clubhouse 4 from 3-5 p.m.
Refreshments will be provided. Cities must create hazard mitigation plans to be eligible for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) hazard mitigation grant funding. Receipt of FEMA grant funding is critical to implementing mitigation projects and programs.
The city’s hazard mitigation plan will provide a framework for Seal Beach to reduce vulnerability to natural hazards like earthquakes, droughts and wildfires, as well as human-caused hazards like hazardous material spills and pandemics.
People will have an opportunity to share your concerns after the Pacific Palisades disaster, including evacuations, abandoned vehicle gridlock, the neighboring battery storage power plant, or any other disaster concern. This is the place and time to voice concerns.
The draft plan will be released early summer 2025. For more information, email hazardmitigation@sealbeachca. gov or contact GRF Health and Safety Manager Eloy Gomez at 562-431-6586, ext. 2356.
