LW Men’s Golf Club

On Feb. 26, after nearly a month long wait due to weather rainouts, 59 Men’s Golf Club members met at 7:30 a.m. on a foggy and damp par 54 Turtle Lake Golf Course.

The weather and cool temps did not contribute to great scoring as only 20 of the 59 players came in at a net score at or under par, and Fujio Norihiro was the only golfer to shoot gross below par. There were only six circle hole winners, with 60 birdies recorded.

Low net score for the round was shot by Art Salazar, followed by Norihiro and then Paul Shellenberger. Closest to the pin on the front nine was Steve Kang and Mike Mayfield on the back.

A flight winners (handicaps

of 0-5): Norihiro, 6 under par, first place; Mayfield, 4 under 50, second; Bob Turner and Mark Rice, 2 under 52, third; Alan Sewell and Seon Kim, 1 under 53, fourth; John Kolthoff and Luke Sunwoo, fifth: Pat Paternoster, Dong On Kim and Bob Barnum, sixth.

B flight winners (handicaps of 6-12): Bob Johnston, 4 under 50, first place; Richard Yokomi, Jae H. Lee and Jun Sup Yoon, 3 under 51, second; Tom Owens and Kevin Lindstedt, 1 under 53, third; Daniel Keum, even par, fourth; Ralph Koizumi, Wong Song, Trai Nguyen and Hyon Shin, 6 under, fifth; Ron Steele, sixth.

C flight winners (handicaps of 13-18): Salazar, 9 under 45, first place; Shellenberger, 7 under 49, second: Won G. Park, 4 under 50, third; Mark Tal and Ron Jackson, 2 under 52, fourth; Jon Russell, even par, fifth; Scott Tuchfarber, sixth; Manny Miranda, seventh. The next men’s tournament is on March 12 and is played every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. The next Guys and Gals tournament will be on March 19, then every third and fifth Wednesday, if there is one.
