LW French Club

The LW French Club will meet Sunday, Feb. 16, in Clubhouse 3, Room 4, from 2:30-4 p.m. The club meets the first and third Sundays of each month. Everyone is welcome to come and speak French. That is the only requirement— that people try to speak French while there.

On Feb. 2 the club enjoyed delicious crepes to celebrate the Chandeleur or Candlemas. As with many holidays in France and worldwide, La Chandeleur lost its religious meaning over time. Nowadays it’s often called Crêpe Day. Sylvie O’Neil, from Normandie in France, where the specialty is very thin crepes, created the treat on an electric crepe pan using a special batter she prepared.
