First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together. “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12 Pastor’s Message
Jacob and his household have made their journey from Canaan to Egypt and pitched their tents in the land of Goshen, as instructed by their kinsmans Joseph and Pharaoh. The time comes for Jacob and Pharaoh to meet. Genesis 47:7 says: “Then Joseph brought in his father Jacob and set him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.” Jacob blessing Pharaoh was an incredible act. In Egyptian religion, Pharaoh was worshiped as a god, the human embodiment of Ra, the Egyptian sun god. For Pharaoh to accept the blessing of Jacob was to recognize Jacob as a man of God.
Jacob has come a long way in his walk before the Lord, even Pharaoh acknowledged the godliness of Jacob. Another interesting fact is that when blessings are given they are given from the greater to the lesser. Pharaoh accepting Jacob’s blessing was indication that the god Jacob worships is greater and superior to the sun god, which Pharaoh is seen as. It showed great wisdom by Pharaoh to make such an acknowledgment since Jacob’s god is god of all creations and is sovereign over all that he created.
