Wa-Rite: put in work to see benefits of weight loss
Wa-Rite is a femaleonly club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet likeminded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:15 to weigh-in and complete the registration paperwork.
At the Jan. 17 meeting, the members learned that they lost a total of 20 pounds. New member, Mary Kay Sherman, was named the biggest loser with a 2.5-pound loss. She said that Wa-Rite members’ encouragement kept her on track, plus eating turkey burgers, cutting her portions in a half and walking.
Linda Rich gave a presentation on willpower. She shared valuable tips on how to boost willpower and keep positive habits strong; how to get rid of temptations, make plans with a friend who is on the same journey to stay accountable and never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach.
Rich added that meditating just for few minutes can strengthen a willpower and help with self-control. Plus, getting enough sleep can help fight temptations.
The weekly food for thought was: “You can’t hope for it; you have to work for it to stay motivated.”
