Vital document scanning event deemed a success

EMERGENCY INFORMATION COUNCIL

The Emergency Information Council held its fourth vital document scanning event on Jan. 20, and 22 residents took advantage of the free service.

Residents brought their stock and membership certificates, medical power of attorney documents and other important papers to be scanned onto a free thumb drive. Driver’s license and credit cards were copied and scanned as well. Hundreds of those documents were saved in a convenient form to fit into go bags. There were plenty of thumb drives left at the end of the event and a repeat of the event is planned in about three months. Also on hand for a donation were waterproof canisters to store the drive, and fireproof bags to keep original documents safe.
