LW Democratic Club
On Jan. 22, over 70 LW Democrats gathered to meet with immigration attorney Jimmy Pham to discuss the probable consequences of the president’s plans for mass deportations of migrants. Pham is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
He is also a candidate in a Feb. 22 special primary election to replace Janet Nguyen as District 36 representative in the California Senate.
Pham is an Orange County native, born as a U.S. citizen. In 1975, his family immigrated to Westminster where his father was a key figure in the establishment of Little Saigon.
He continues his family’s tradition of service by guiding the community through the intricacies of immigration and holding significant roles in local organizations, including chair of the Westminster Traffic Commission and board secretary for the Vietnamese American Democratic Club.
LW Democrats are reminded that club treasurer Mary Tromp is a candidate for election to be a voting delegate from State Assembly District 72 at the California Democratic Party (CADEM) this spring.
All Leisure World residents who are officially registered as Democrats are eligible to vote electronically in this election. However—because this is an election run by the Democratic Party itself rather than the OC Registrar of Voters— potential voters must submit a registration application to CADEM.
The deadline for registering to vote in this election has been extended to Jan. 31. Registration is easy and can be done online by going to adem.cadem.org. Anyone having questions about this process should contact Mary Tromp at mary.tromp@gmail.com.
The club’s hospitality and voter information booth, located in the parking lot outside Clubhouse 6, will again be open from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month.
The club’s lunch bunch gathering, designed to welcome new club members, will be on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Hof ’s Hut Restaurant & Bakery at 11:30 a.m.
