Community Church

The LW Community Church is located inside Leisure World by St. Andrews Gate at 14000 Church Place. Those who are feeling anxious or uncertain and looking for a sanctuary and safe community are welcome. A Sunday service is held at 9:50 a.m. Come early for a cup of coffee in the Narthex. Everyone is welcome, especially the first-time worshippers.

As a part of celebrating the inauguration of the 45th president, there was a prayer service at the National Cathedral wherein Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde challenged the incoming president. She said: “In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now.”

This week, the assigned reading from Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians is chapter 13. Those who have ever set foot in a church for a wedding, have heard first Corinthians chapter 13. The passage is all about love. In the church at large today, there appears to be some confusion about love, what it means and what it doesn’t. Paul was writing to a community divided in many ways and was clear in his understanding of love, as today, people find themselves divided.

On Sunday, Feb. 2, LW Community Church will feature Broadway’s best from composers Rodgers and Hammerstein and Rodgers and Hart. See page 12 for more details.
