Community Church

LW Community Church will host the Quartet Aido at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19. For more information, see page 13.

Two United Methodist churches, one in Pacific Palisades and one in Altadena, have been lost to the Los Angeles fires that as of press time are still ongoing. Thousands of homes, other religious facilities, historic sites, and at least one grocery store have also been lost to the fires. The devastation is raw and overwhelming.

In the aftermath of these fires, people have a choice—to treat the fires as something that doesn’t involve Orange County, or to see themselves in community with those who have lost everything and find ways to be the body of Christ with them.

As this week’s message carries over from last week’s, Community Church will celebrate this Sunday, Jan. 19, with a remembrance of Baptism that highlights the power of water and the Holy Spirit in believers lives.

Community Church is located inside Leisure World down by the St. Andrews Gate at 14000 Church Place.

Those who are feeling anxious or uncertain in this time and are looking for a sanctuary and a safe community, are welcome to join Community Church. Come early for a cup of coffee in the narthex.

The church regularly has first-time worshippers, and many who come back again. Those who could do with a little joy this week are encouraged to see what the “friendly church” is all about. Community Church meets for worship held on Sundays at 9:50 a.m.
