Sandy Derouin aces No. 6 at Nov. 20 tournament
GUYS AND GALS TOURNAMENT
Twenty-nine teams of one man and one woman of differing abilities played at the par 54 Turtle Lake Golf Course on a cool and sunny Nov. 20 morning. The teams competed for best net scores (gross score minus handicap), plus four circle holes (shots within a 5-foot radius rewarded), and two closest to the pin challenges.
There was no wind, and the golfers enjoyed playing on a sunny morning rather than in the fog and overcast of recent months. The adequate playing conditions contributed to great scores with 30 of the 34 teams being net at or below par, plus there were eight circle hole winners, but only 39 birdies recorded.
Low net score for the round was an amazing (and possibly a record low) 19 under 35 by Steve Walker and Susie Kim. Closest to the pin for the men was Bob Turner and Mike Mayfield, and for the women it was Vivian Ceballos and Sandy Derouin. Derouin’s hole-in-one was on the closest to the pin hole.
Tournament statistics: Overall average gross score for all 34 teams was 57.7 strokes or nearly 4 over par. Overall average net scores for all teams was 50 strokes or just 4 under par.
