The Leisure World Democratic Club’s will meet Jan. 13. Club members and supporters can join this meeting in person or via Zoom. Mariann Klinger, candidate for a seat on the Seal Beach City Council, will be the featured speaker.

Klinger will be running in a special Jan. 31 run-off election because none of the four candidates for District 5 received 50% +1 of the votes in the November General Election. This is officially a non-partisan election.

Klinger has been a member of the Seal Beach City Planning Commission for the last seven years. While serving on the Planning Commission, Klinger worked closely with the city administration and a team of planning commissioners in support of the city’s business. She also worked for Leisure World’s Security department for 10 years.

The LW Democratic Club will work in support of Klinger during the weeks leading up to the Jan. 31 election. Anyone interested in helping in the effort to support Klinger’s election should contact sblwdemocraticclub@gmail.com or call 562-596-0450. ••• The club thanks Leisure World Democrats and supporters who played a part in helping to make sure that Katie Porter would continue to represent the community in Congress. The club believes that she will continue to play an important role in shaking up the way things work in Washington D.C. The club is thankful for her focus on issues such as mental health, ending corruption, preventing gun violence and preserving Medicare and Social Security. ••• To subscribe to the Democratic Club’s electronic newsletter, call 562-296-8521 or email democraticclubsblw@gmail.com.
