John 14:26 says “But the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the father will send in my name [in my place, to represent me and act on my behalf], he will teach you all things. And he will help you remember everything that I have told you.”

These words spoken by Jesus lets believers know that they can be assured that they have someone to turn to help face life’s challenges. The Holy Spirit is there to comfort, counsel and strengthen believers, among so many other things. When people draw near to Jesus, he draws near to them (James 4:8), and guides believers through his spirit. Draw near to Jesus to experience help and comfort. One of the times we need Jesus’ comfort most is when grieving the loss of a loved one. Grief Share, a course offered through Faith Christian Assembly, was created to assist those who are seeking comfort and strength through loss. It is facilitated by Grief Share veterans Rupert and Addie Penner, wonderful people who both experienced losses of their own.

Those want to join the program are invited to come to the next session on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 5:30 p.m. in the Garden Room. The first session is titled “Surviving the Holidays,” which specifically addresses how to deal with the many emotions that will come up during the holidays, plus tips for surviving social events, and discovering hope for the future.

The Grief Share program will meet for 13 weeks and will focus on helping grieving people move forward and rebuild their life after loss. For more information regarding the Grief Share program, call 562-598-9010.
