Community Church Community Church

During the Thanksgiving season, Community Church pauses to reflect on the things members are grateful for. These expressions are written on colorful leaves and attached to the Tree of Gratitude in the narthex. Leisure World residents are all welcome to add a note to the tree through Nov. 20. Leaves are available on Sunday or in the church office.

It seems the return of Christmas merchandise to stores starts earlier and earlier each year. Typically the Community Church eschews this kind of jump to Christmas and waits until after Thanksgiving, but this year the church will take a different approach to the season of Advent. Rather than a season of waiting, Community Church will use the season of Advent as a season of development.

This Sunday, Nov. 13, will be the first Sunday of an extended Advent season. The church will study a passage from the Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 65:17-25 and a passage from the Gospel of Luke in Luke 21:5-19.

The word “Gospel” means good news, and those in need of some good news are welcome to join Community Church on Sundays at 9:50 a.m. in person or online. All are welcome here.

Entrances to the church may be found both at the front of the church and by the pedestrian gate near the shopping center.

The church no longer requires proof of vaccination in the sanctuary; masking is optional. Community Church also offers virtual worship on Zoom and Facebook.

Those who are in need without another way to address it may call the church office at 562-431-2503.

All residents are invited to write what they are thankful for and put it on Community Church's tree of gratitude.
