Scrabble Club

The Leisure World Scrabble Club met on all four Wednesdays in October.

There were 62 scores above 300 (three of them above 400) and 39 “bingos”. A bingo is the use of all seven tiles in one move.

Bob Ruderman and Suthy Edgar set a club record with a combined score of 853 in one game. Edgar had the high total for the month—a 474. She had one other score above 400, eight others higher than 300, and 12 bingos. Ruderman exceeded 300 14 times, with a high of 439 and 21 bingos. Wanda Bemben topped 300 nine a 348 times. Her best was a 367. Larry Edgar scored above 300 eight times, and Diane Seeger scored above 300 nine times. Seeger had three bingos and a top score of 398. Edgar’s best score was a 383. Club president Maria Giegerich and Sue Ann Gass each bested 300 four times. Giegerich had a high score of 356 and two bingos. Gass’ best game was a 338. Sylvia Makus and Ruth DePuy each had two games above 300. DePuy had one bingo and a top score of 350. Makus’ best game was a 348. Marilyn Moody’s best game was a 335.

The club meets every Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 5. New members are welcome.
