SUMMER PILOT PROGRAM This summer, the GRF Transportation Department will conduct a three-month pilot program that will offer on-call bus rides to and from GRF-sponsored weekend dances—which include monthly performances by Vinyl Rock, the Velvetones and Abilene. From June through August, residents who wants ride to a dance can call 562-472-1367 when they’re ready to be picked up.

West Nile virus reported in OC

VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District has confirmed that mosquitoes collected in Newport Beach have tested positive for West Nile virus. These are the first samples to test positive in the county this year. West Nile virus is primarily transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes that acquire the virus when feeding on infected birds.
