Community Church will hold its annual Veterans Day “Sock It to ‘Em” sock drive. People can bring new packages of men’s and women’s white athletic socks to the Sunday worship on Nov. 9 or to the church office during the week. People can also provide a cash/ check donation toward the purchase of socks instead. They will be given to the Veterans Administration for distribution around Veterans

Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em should make plans play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, Nov. 8. Regular tournaments are held on the first three Saturdays of every month in the lobby of Clubhouse 6, with registration beginning at 10 a.m., along with treats and coffee. The LW Chess Club meets every Friday in Clubhouse 3, Room 7, from 1-4:30 p.m. Beginners lessons are available. There were witches, pumpkins, a hula girl, a disco duo, a scary spider, a gap mouthed goblin and a flapper among some 30 members and guests who gathered in Clubhouse 1 on Oct. 25 to kick off Halloween with the Shuffleboard Club. A large backdrop was festooned with tangled webs, skeletons, bats and scarecrows, thanks to the creativity of member Sally Foster. A bouquet of black roses adorned each table.
