When the Poker Tournament Club played on July 17, Glenn Evenson beat Susan Dodson with a king-high flush at the final table. Evenson, who also won for high hand, has been a club member for three years, but this is his first overall win. The retired computer consultant also enjoys chess, pickleball and travel.

The Dancers & Mixers Dance Club invites everyone to whoop it up from 7-9 p.m. on Aug. 3 in Clubhouse 4. Live music for this western-themed dance will be provided by Linda Herman. Partners are not required, as there will be a mixer and line dancing. Attendees should bring their boots and hat, plus their own refreshments.

On July 12, the Korean Literary Club (KLC) held a book-publication ceremony in honor of the recent collection by club adviser Dr. Yoon Soo Park. The title of the ceremony was “The Poetic World and Memoir of Yoon Soo Park.” The Mutual 14 resident spoke of the three poetry books he has published since moving to Leisure World in 2014, as well as his recent book “My Memoir.”

The LWSB Book Club met on July 15, and each of the 14 members present gave a brief synopsis of the book they read. The discussions of the various books brought out storytelling skills and included a conversation on the music of Wagner. Kyung Park also recited an original poem.
Among the selections were “In a Sunburned Country” by Bill Brysan; “Look Again” by Lisa Scottoline; “The Book

I had three fabulous reasons to take a roadtrip along old Route 66 across eight states to Chicago on April 24: I had gotten my COVID vaccinations; I wanted to attend my sister’s 90th-birthday surprise partyinCrownPoint,Indiana;and my son Gary, who lives in Oregon, wanted to take his new camper truck on the road.
