First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
The book of Psalms is a powerful source of encouragement. It strengthens faith and deepens hope to see how God is at work. In the Psalms, there are praises, prayers and songs written by men and inspired by God. These Old Testament writings were sung by God’s people in temple worship. For centuries, both Christians and Jews around the world have recited, sung, memorized, and treasured the Psalms. At First Christian Church, each service begins with a Psalm reading and includes at least five songs of praise and worship.
Praise is the most prominent theme in the book Psalms. David began and ended many of the Psalms he wrote with praise, and the word itself appears about 200 times throughout the book. Followers of God can grow in faith by recognizing praise as a vital response to the Creator and giver of every blessing. Reading a Psalm each day provides a meaningful opportunity to “be still and know that He is God.”
In Psalm 109:30, David wrote, “With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the Lord; and in the midst of many I will praise Him.” Psalm 150 closes the book with this call to worship: “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!”
Weekly Services
Sunday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and traditional services with hymnal music led by Sherry Parmenter on the piano and Janet Ray will sing the special music.
Saturday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment.
Midweek Studies
Melli Herrera leads the women’s Bible study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
The Bible study is on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the prayer and Bible study on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.
All residents are welcome to attend the above services and Bible studies.
