Democratic Club

Canvassers have begun knocking on doors of Democratic and no party preference voters. They are respectful and will provide residents with the candidate names and propositions supported by the Democratic Party. LW Democratic residents and those who have registered as no party preference will receive a postcard this year instead of the usual letter with candidate, proposition and voter information.
The LW Democratic Club and the Seniors for Peace Club will host a presentation by the League of Women Voters on Friday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. in Clubhouse 2. The nonpartisan organization will use a Power-Point presentation to review the propositions on the upcoming ballot. All Leisure World residents are invited to attend, with seating planned for 200 people.
Ballots drop Oct. 5 and voting can begin Oct. 6. The Democratic Club recommends using the Official Ballot Drop Box located by the Amphitheater. This is a safe, secure location where ballots are collected daily. Voters who choose to vote by mail are advised to vote early. Additionally, an official voting center is available at the fire station on North Gate Road.
The club’s hospitality booth is open each Tuesday in September, and every Tuesday and Thursday in October from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in front of Clubhouse 6. Club members will be there to help answer questions, register to vote, update address, or change party affiliation. Indivisible will hold demonstrations on Oct. 17. The organization describes these demonstrations as nonpartisan voter participation events with a primary emphasis on preparing eligible voters to cast their ballots.
The LW Democratic Club is grateful to everyone who stepped up to make its fundraiser a resounding success that makes its work possible. Special thanks goes to Bev Bender, who championed the effort. The Voter Education series will not meet in September, but the group will continue postcarding. Bender has 300 postcards and addresses for Texas. People can email beverleybender@ gmail.com or call 951-334-9730 to receive the cards and addresses that they can write at their leisure. The cards will not be mailed until the end of September.
