LW Pool Club fall league will begin Sept. 7

On July 25, the LW Pool Club held its annual Mano-A-Mano eight-ball tournament. It was a singles, double elimination tournament. In the first round it was two games out of three.

Tran Phuoc beat Wildfire Christiansen, Dave Silva and John Burns to advance to the final match in the winner’s bracket. There, Phuoc lost to Ron Kennedy, who had beaten Paul Shellenberger and Brian Tivnan.

Steve Edrich lost his first match to Ren Villanueva, which immediately put him in the loser’s bracket. However, Edrich won his next four games to meet Phuoc, with the loser of that match taking third place and the winner advancing to meet Kennedy, who was the remaining player in the winner’s bracket.

Edrich beat Phuoc, which meant he had to win two games in a row from Kennedy, since Edrich lost his first game and Kennedy had not lost a game yet. Edrich won two games from Kennedy to take the title.

The fall pool league will begin on Monday, Sept. 7 and Wednesday, Sept. 9.
