First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
There is a Christian song titled, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” While this is true, Jesus is much more than a friend.
In John 14:7, Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”
There are many uncertainties along the journey of life, but Jesus came as the light of the world and his light can drive away darkness. Jesus said in John 8:12 “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in the darkness but will have the Light of life.” In John 14:27, shortly before he was hung on the cross, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you, not as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”
Jesus’ guidance will light the path, give peace and shield believers from many troubles of the world.
The last verse of the song says it best: “In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou will find a solace there, In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou will find a solace there.”
Weekly Services
Sunday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and traditional services with hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Sherry Parmenter at the piano. Kevin and Angela Billing will sing the special music this week.
Saturday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment.
Midweek Studies
Melli Herrera leads the women’s Bible study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
The Bible study is on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the prayer and Bible study on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.
All Leisure World residents are welcome to attend the above services and Bible studies.
