Democratic Club
by Jane Brittingham
LW contributor
Although she joined the board as a member-at-large just a few months ago, Gail Winkles has already made a huge impact for the LW Democratic Club. When the board discussed needing a new newsletter editor, she bravely stepped up to take the reins.
Thanks to her dedication, the club’s monthly newsletter is packed with the informative updates members need to stay engaged on the issues that matter most. Members of the Seal Beach Leisure World Democratic Club should keep an eye on their inbox each month for Winkles’ latest edition. If it isn’t in the inbox, check the spam folder.
For more information about the newsletter, contact Winkles at swageg8@gmail.com.
The club thanks those who have already contributed to the club’s fundraiser. The donations power the club’s work: from supporting the Democratic Party of Orange County and its endorsed candidates, to keeping the LW club’s daily operations running smooth. The fundraiser continues to mid-September, so people can still donate.
Chris Duncan, candidate for California State Senate District 36, will be the LW Democratic Club’s featured guest speaker on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. People are welcome to arrive early and bring a lunch; light snacks will be provided. Duncan will bring yard signs for those who are interested.
The Hospitality Booth is open the first Tuesday and the third Thursday. The booth is located outside Clubhouse 6 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
People can register to vote, update an address, or change their party affiliation with the help of the club’s volunteers. People can also pick campaign literature, join discussions on current events, and enjoy a welcoming environment to share thoughts with like-minded neighbors. For more information, contact Rachael Lehmberg at rlehmberg815@gmail.com.
The Lunch Bunch meets at the Hof’s Hut off Seal Beach Boulevard at 11:30 a.m. on the first Wednesday of every month. It provides an opportunity for members to enjoy a good meal, great conversation, and share the company of like-minded friends and neighbors. For more information, contact Debbie Wrathall at Debbiewrathall@mac.com.
The next Voter Education session will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m., in Clubhouse 3, Room 3. For more information, email beverleybender@gmail.com.
