2026-27 GRF Board seated; new president elected
GRF ANNUAL MEETING

Communications Director
At the 63rd GRF Annual meeting on June 9, the 2026-27 GRF Board of Directors voted in the following people to serve on the executive board: Jeffrey Mulqueen of Mutual 1, president; Vicki Burdman of Mutual 4, vice president; Namil Shin of Mutual 14, corporate secretary, and Sandy Geffner of Mutual 3, treasurer.
There are three new directors: Mark Hughes of Mutual 2, Steve Edrich of Mutual 6, and Leechung “Luke” Wang of Mutual 10. They join the following incumbents for the 2026-27 term: Tim Kearns, Mutual 1; Teri Nugent, Mutual 2; James Farr, Mutual 5; Pattricia Vienna, Mutual 7; Michael Banfield, Mutual 8; Kathryn Jones, Mutual 9; Edward Jablonski, Mutual 11; Linda Herman, Mutual 12; Marla Hamblin, Mutual 15; and Nick Massetti, Mutual 17. The Mutual 16 seat is currently vacant.
GRF Director Janet Isom of Mutual 16 officially resigned her seat after the annual meeting. GRF directors can now appoint a Mutual 16 resident to serve out the term.
Isom was elected in 2019 and served as president in 2024-2025 and treasurer in 2021-22. She also chaired many committees during her tenure: Finance, Information Technology, Communications, and the Website Redesign Ad Hoc Committee. Her presidency was marked by positive changes including reinstating the Finance Committee, the Stock Transfer Office remodel, and championing the On-Call bus service. She was instrumental in guiding the complete redesign of GRF’s website at lwsb.com, instituting lwweekly. com, the newspaper’s digital edition, and updating the Wikipedia page, among other notable accomplishments.
Outgoing president Linda Herman thanked Isom and the other departing directors for a productive term. They included Susan Hopewell of Mutual 6, who served on the board for a decade. She was elected in 2016 and, most notably, served as president from 2020-2022. Those years were fraught with challenges. They included the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic that shut down all LW amenities and the sudden departure of GRF Executive Director Randy Ankeny in December 2021, leaving her at the helm of a $27 million company until July 2022, when his replacement was hired.
During her term, she essentially served as interim executive director, overseeing a comprehensive benchmarking effort among all the duties associated with running a super-sized HOA. The benchmarking’s goal was to improve stagnant wages and benefits for GRF employees to retain employees and improve recruitment. She also spearheaded a robust collaboration with Mutual directors to update a 60-year-old management agreement, among many other accomplishments. When she stepped down as president, she received a standing ovation from fellow directors, staff and residents for service above and beyond the call of duty. Her tenure also included a term as vice president from 2019-2020 and chairing the Recreation, Administration and Mutual Administration committees. The board also said goodbye to Carol Levine, who represented Mutual 10. She has been on the Board since 2020 and chaired the Architectural Design & Review Committee (ADRC) in its last year, when amenities and staff buildings were being upgraded and overhauled. She also served as corporate secretary for two terms from 2022-2024.
Don Horning of Mutual 2 was elected in 2024 and chaired the Member Services Committee.
During the meeting, the chairs of GRF’s five standing committees gave their annual reports. Those include Administration, Vicki Burdman, chair; Facilities, Michael Banfield, chair; Member Services, Don Horning, chair; Operations, Pattricia Vienna, chair; and Finance, Sandy Geffner, chair.
Community Rules Violation (CRV) Panel Chair Marla Hamblin also recapped the panel’s year.
