Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore
On Sunday, April 19, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the third Sunday of Easter at 10:30 a.m. at 13564 St. Andrews Drive Holy Communion Service. The Rev. Murray Finck will preside over the service. All are welcome.
After the service, there will be fellowship in the Fellowship Hall with coffee, tea, cookies, and snacks.
The congregation is collecting canned food for those in need.
The bazaar committee will meet for the assembly of crafts every Monday in April at 10 a.m. The next meeting is Monday, April 20, downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. The congregation will provide the planned projects with directions, guidance, and all the materials. All are welcome. This will help prepare for the spring bazaar on April 30-May 2 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The Bible study will return on Wednesday, April 22, from noon-1:15 p.m. The group will continue where it left off in the Acts of the Apostles. People can bring a Bible, a friend or neighbor, and a lunch. Everyone is invited to join the study to learn more about the early church and make a new friend.
The Gospel lesson is from Luke 24:13-35. It’s about the road to Emmaus. In these 22 verses, the disciples are so caught up in their excitement that, although they are tired, they quickly get back on the road to share the Gospel news with others.
They had already walked about seven miles that day. It was evening and getting dark. After they met with Jesus and recognized him after he broke bread with them, they got up and walked another seven miles back to Jerusalem in the dark to share the good news that Jesus was alive.
This lesson is about the faith journey. The congregation will be asked “When was the last time you were so excited about something in your faith life that you couldn’t wait to share it with someone else?”
Believers need to be bold in faith and support each other in all times of life.
