The Leisure World Cares Fund ramped up monetary distributions during February such that by March 1, there will be 19 residents receiving $200 per month for at least one 12-month period. The awards are being made to Leisure World residents who are on low fixed incomes to help them keep up with their rising HOA fees.

The application process is confidential, and it can be completed in as little as one week.

The awards would not be possible without the donations made to the charity by other Leisure World residents who, by comparison, are relatively comfortable financially. To date just over 90 donors have come forward. Some are donating monthly but most donate occasionally. During the online donation process, donors are given an opportunity to say why they give. Here are a few of those comments: “We want to help residents who can’t keep up with rising assessments”; “who knows, I may need some help someday”; “paying it forward”; “to help out SNAP recipients”; “helping my struggling neighbors;” and “a compassionate concern for others’ wellbeing is the source of happiness.”

There is no doubt that there are other struggling residents who may not have yet become aware of the opportunity provided by the Leisure World Cares Fund to receive financial help.

There is also no doubt that there are more generous donors who would like to support this unique program. Both donors and applicants are urged to contact the Leisure World Cares Fund by visiting www.lwcaresfund.org, where donations can be made and aid applications downloaded. Call 562-262-8280 to have an application delivered or a donation picked up. The mailing address is 13650 Del Monte Drive, 24-B, Seal Beach, CA 90740.

The Leisure World Cares Fund is not affiliated with the Golden Rain Foundation in any way.
