Wa-Rite celebrated 45-pound weight loss for the month of January
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey by becoming members, and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by at 8:15 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.
On Feb. 6, members learned that the club lost a total of 11 pounds for the week with a three-way tie for the biggest loser title between Jeanette Williams, Linda Rich and Mary Kay Sherman. They each lost 1.5 pounds. Williams said she stays committed to working out with 10-pound weights and denied herself of sugar for five days. Rich tries not to eat a lot at one time and drinks more water. Sherman said she’s been busy with a full remodel of her unit, which causes a lot of stress and a weight loss.
Feb. 6 was the club’s business meeting. Recordkeeper Darleen Gardner said that the club lost a total of 45 pounds for the month of January. Joy Nasser became the queen of the month with a 7-pound loss. Three other members who lost the most weight last month were: Annette Canale, 6.5 pounds; Julie Cisneros, 5; and Velma Sarna, 5. The member who attended every week with no gain was Karen Green, and Cisneros was the only one who reached her short-term

goal. Secretary Jeanette Williams did a good job summarizing everything that happened in January, and treasurer Joyce Brannon told everyone how much money the club had left after its holiday brunch at Sunny Side Café.
The weekly food for thought was: “Every acknowledgement starts with a decision to try.”
