Assembly of God

The word “tempted” evokes uncomfortable feelings of being enticed to do something wrong or unwise, whether it is a serious betrayal or consuming a sweet treat that is not on the eating plan for 2026. The only way to get better at not succumbing to temptation is repeatedly overcoming it. When there is a clear payoff or reward for overcoming temptation, one gains some advantage in the fight. James 1:13-17, one of the earliest written books of the New Testament, was written to some of first people who called themselves Christians. Pastor Chuck Franco will preach a sermon titled“Facing Temptation” on Sunday, Feb. 8.

The sixth session of the “Book of James”, Bible study covers James 3:1-12. The problems contemporary Christians face were encountered by the early church as well. James uses the illustration of the destructive power of fire to explain the importance and effect of words. Francis Chan’s video teaching supplies the basis for moderated discussion and student interaction, producing a deeper understanding and application of scripture.
