Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. There will be no meeting Nov. 28. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.

The club’s recordkeeper Darleen Gardner informed everyone that the members lost 14 pounds for the week. Joy Nasser was once again named the biggest loser with a 2.5-pound loss. Nasser’s strategy is eating desserts only on Fridays, after the weigh-ins, cutting her portions in half when eating out, and a lot of walking.

Joyce Brannon gave a talk on the benefits of chair exercises that can improve balance, flexibility and strength, and make living independently easier. She added that even stretching alone can reduce joint stiffness, anxiety and stress levels.

The weekly food for thought was: “Calories eaten over the sink don’t count.”
