LW Genealogy Club

The Genealogy Club’s November and December general membership meetings are cancelled. November is the beginning of the club’s dues renewal drive for 2026. The dues are $15 for the year, a great bargain to use the club’s library to gain access to paid online subscriptions of Ancestry, Fold3 and Newspapers publisher edition. Dues renewal sheets are in the Genealogy Library.

The club is thrilled with its new library computers, which are operational and running much faster than the old ones.

Elections were held at the October meeting, and the only change for 2026 is that Teri Charlesworth will be moving from co-president to vice president. The club thanks Cynthia MacFarland who served as vice president for the past few years.

Volunteers are needed to help with meeting social time, including setup and cleanup, and to help with the annual holiday party and summer potluck. To sign up, email lwgenealogy@ gmail.com.

The December holiday luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4, in Clubhouse 3, Room 1, at noon with food from Taco Surf. Those interested in attending should use the sign-up sheet in the Genealogy Library. The club needs an accurate headcount so it can order the proper amount of food. The cost of the luncheon is to-be-determined. There will be a white elephant gift exchange—people should festively wrap their gift.

The club’s Theme Thursdays are held from 1:30-2 p.m. in the Genealogy Library. The upcoming topics are: family bibles and where to look for them on Nov. 13; to-bedetermined on Nov. 20; and there will be no event on Nov. 27 due to Thanksgiving.
