Joyful Line Dance credits diversity for better attendance
The Joyful Line Dance Club meets on Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon in Clubhouse 2. The club divides its classes into two parts with a brief break in between— for beginners and more experienced dancers.
Each class begins Albert Comia teaching the dances like “Elvira,” “Achy Breaky Heart,” “Tennessee Waltz” and others.
Karen Kei leads the second hour of the class with intermediate to advanced dances and shows new line dances each month. This month, she is teaching “Alice.” Another instructor, William Young, will teach “Bosa Nova.”
The club has become more diverse thanks to the variety of dances it offers. On Sept. 24, over 70 people attended the class.
People are welcome to stay for the duration of a class or just attend the first or second half of it. Exercise shoes are advised; no flip flops or sandals. All attendees must be members of the club. The cost is $20 per calendar year. For more information, text 562-301-5339.
