Wa-Rite
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.
Sept. 5 was a business meeting. Members learned that the club lost a total of 13 pounds for the week, and 48.5 pounds for the month of August. Marshia Larson was the biggest loser with a 2.5-pound loss. She credits it to hot weather and as a result, drinking more water and eating less or skipping meals.
Darleen Gardner, the club’s recordkeeper, shared that the three members who lost most of the weight were Joy Nasser, 6 pounds; Rosie Calhoun, 6.5 pounds; and Ellen Larsen, 4.5 pounds. Sherry Ginsberg and Nasser also attended every week with no gain. Nasser reached her short-term goal and was named a queen of the month. She said she ate less and exercised more.
The weekly food for thought was: “I am focused on long-term goals, not short-term results, and build a healthy eating habit every day.”
