At the Sept. 9 meeting of the Art League, President Susie Ralston announced that Ramayana “RB” Baba will succeed her as president of the League. Jim Greer will serve as vice president. Ralston’s tenure as president included remarkable accomplishments, including the curation and display of resident artwork throughout GRF properties, and the successful Art in Bloom, a juried art exhibition featuring 2D and 3D art created by residents.

Baba announced changes to the League’s monthly meetings, including bimonthly workshops and presentations hosted by noted, professional artists. The League’s September workshop featured celebrated collagist Jennifer Gunlock, who instructed attendees in the use of a variety of media to create dynamic collage art pieces. The costs associated with the League’s free workshops and presentations are offset by a grant from the Golden Age Foundation.

The League will eliminate themed and guest presenter-judged artwork. Going forward, League members may submit artwork in any medium, without designated themes. An award for “Most Popular” piece will be determined by votes submitted by attendees.

The Oct. 14 meeting will feature a presentation by mixed-media and abstraction artist Ian Deisbuerg at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. For more information, contact Jim Greer at lwsb.artleague@gmail.com.
