WA-RITE

Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh-in and complete the registration paperwork.

At the June 27 meeting, members learned that the club lost a total of 6.5 pounds for the week with Joy Nasser being the biggest loser for the third week in a row. Nasser lost 2 pounds by making sensible food choices.

This meeting was a sharing day with no speaker. The doctorate degree holder in weight loss for the past four years Kathy Moran talked about her 60th college class reunion in Kansas and spending time with her daughter afterward. From Kansas, she went to Washington, D.C., to meet her new great-grandson for the first time.

Moran earned her Wa-Rite doctorate degree by staying within 3 pounds of her goal weight and maintaining it for the past three years. She also has a wonderful sense of humor and prides herself on keeping off the 25 pounds she lost since she first became a member of the Wa-Rite Club. Moran watches what she eats and works out at the gym regularly. Marianne Barlow was also acknowledged for earning her doctorate degree in weight loss by attaining her goal weight and maintaining it for the past three years.

The weekly food for thought was: “Food can nourish the body; friendships can nourish the soul.”
