Wa-Rite is a femaleonly club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh-in and complete the registration paperwork.

On June 6, the club held its business meeting (first meeting of the month). Members learned that the club lost a total of 11 pounds for the week and 48.5 pounds for the month.

New member Julie Campbell was named the biggest loser for the second week in a row with a 4-pound loss in the past week. She watched her portion sizes and ate more vegetables. Campbell also reached her short-term goal and won an additional $10. The queen of the month was Pat Miller with 12.5-pound loss. Three other members who also lost the most weight in a month were Julie Campbell, 8.5 pounds, and Darleen Gardner, 7.5 pounds. Joani Binder was also named a queen of the month. and will be celebrated upon her return.

Pat Miller was the only one who reached her short-term goal. Doctorate degree members Kathy Moran, Shirlene Bradrick, Velma Sarna and Ellen Larsen won $2 each for staying within their goal weight (plus/minus 3 pounds). One of the winners said that walking more and being held accountable by other members helped in her weight loss efforts. The weekly food for thought was: “I nourish myself with kind words and healthy, satisfying foods.”
