Letting go of old habits may lead to sustainable weight loss
WA-RITE
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh-in and complete the registration paperwork.
The first Friday of each month is Wa-Rite’s business meeting, and May 2 was no exception. Members learned that the club lost 8 pounds for the week, and 36 pounds for the month. The biggest loser was Jeanette Williams with 2.5-pound loss. She practiced yoga and meditation, and became more aware of what she ate. The queen of the month was Joani Binder, who wasn’t present, but will be acknowledged next time she attends. Three members who lost the most weight in a month were: Joani Binder, 8 pounds; Nancy Pomicter, 6 pounds; and Sherry Ginsberg, 4 pounds. Pomicter was the sole member who attended every week with no gain, and member Ruth Saldana reached her goal. The degreed winners who maintained their goal weights were Ellen Larsen, Shirlene Bradrick, Kathy Moran and Marina Tesla who has successfully maintained her target weight for the last seven years.
President Judy Chambers shared a succinct, pithy food for thought: “My goal is long-term health results as I try letting go of old habits that no longer serve me.”
