In November, Hui O Hula dancers are gearing up for the holiday season. Each year, after Thanksgiving, dancers take time out of their busy schedule to wish all a merry Christmas with hula such as Haleluia (Hallelujah in Hawaiian), Po la’i E (Silent Night in Hawaiian), and White Christmas “LA Style” (wearing sunglasses and without shoes). Since 2006, Yvette Perdue has been coordinating donations of knit and crochet caps, fleece scarves and clothing for the homeless to ChristianOutreach in Action in Long Beach. Those interested in joining the group should contact Perdue at 562-505-4016. —Ivy Kung
